Iron-Bound Gym to Expand: ‘Iron-Barre & Yoga’ Expected to Open in September – WYDaily

WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg’s Iron-Bound Gym announced it is expanding next month into a new space called Iron-Barre & Yoga.
The new addition is a roughly 950-square-foot space across the street from the gym’s current location at 4325 New Town Ave.
Once renovations are complete, the expansion will serve as a dedicated studio space that offers gym members more variety and times for mind and body classes, such as Barre, Yoga, Zumba, and more.
“There’s going to be more classes,” Owner Scott Grafton said in an interview with WYDaily. “We currently have 52 classes included with our membership, per week. This allows us a way to have multiple classes going on at the same time. Right now we have a dedicated indoor cycling space, and we also have a group fitness room, but this just allows us another studio room so that we can have classes like Barre and Zumba going on at the same time. It allows us a lot more versatility.”
Iron-Bound Gym prides itself on offering a variety of fitness classes to its members. During the past two years, with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting many local businesses, Iron-Bound gym found ways to continue offering classes over Facebook. The local gym adapted through challenging times, with Grafton saying now they feel they have hit a good stride.
“We had outdoor spin classes when we could have classes outside. Then we went through all the protocol phases, allowing a few people in the gym at once, and then allowing a few people in the classes. Thinking back on it, all the things that we’ve been through, it’s amazing,” Grafton said. “This sounds cliche, but I cannot say enough about the staff for changing on an almost daily basis through all of that. Now we just keep pushing forward, and they are just as excited as I am to add a little something to us.”
Since taking over the gym in 2001, Grafton says he has always concentrated on putting things back into the business, like adding new classes and new equipment for gym members to take advantage of. He anticipates that the new space for classes will be ready sometime in early September.
