“Hertz is committed to setting the standard for the future of mobility, electrification, and a digital-first customer experience, by growing our EV fleet while providing the best rental and recharging experience for leisure and business customers around the world,” vice president of Hertz APAC Eoin Macneill said. “We’re thrilled to partner with Polestar to bring an exciting premium EV to the Australian market, providing customers the opportunity to drive the latest in automotive technology while expanding our range of eco-conscious options within our fleet.”
Head of Polestar Australia, Samantha Johnson, added that the introduction of the Polestar 2 to the local Hertz fleet will allow locals to become acquainted with an EV without having to make the financial commitment to purchase one.
“Our partnership with Hertz provides an exciting opportunity for more Australians to experience the thrill of driving an EV while reducing their environmental impact,” Johnson said. “For many customers, this will be their first experience in an electric vehicle and we’re proud to be able to share in their e-mobility journey. As a country, we are becoming more environmentally conscious and at Hertz we’re prioritizing providing our customers with the opportunity to travel more sustainably.”
The Polestar 2 is available in three guises in Australia, although it is unclear which of them will be available through Hertz. The entry-level model takes the form of the Standard Range Single Motor starting at AU$63,900 ($45,251) while those after more range can opt for the Long Range Single Motor priced from AU$68,400 ($48,438). Topping out the range is the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor that can be purchased from $73,400 ($51,978) before options.
