Mental Health Pop-Up Gym returns to Kings Park – Macon-Bibb County

On Saturday, March 19, Macon Mental Health Matters will hold a Mental Health Pop-up Gym from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Kings Park (3296 Kingston Court).
The pop-up gym is returning to Kings Park after being there in August 2021. The gyms have made their way throughout the community since May 2021 to bring mental health resources and support directly into neighborhoods through the Macon Mental Health Matters initiative.
This weekend’s event includes a Zen Tea Garden, yoga, creating vision boards, therapy consultations, and a drum circle. The gym is free and open to people of all ages. This weekend they will be doing visual journaling for the first time.
“It’s a great way to reduce stress and express your personal narrative,” says Macon Head Space Executive Director Nancy Cleveland. “We want to promote mental wellness and educate people on the resources available to them in Macon. There isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ solution to mental health, so we want to provide various outlets to help all people create their own head space.”
The gym is also looking for volunteers to assist in the event this weekend and future events. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Nancy Cleveland at (917) 470-5491 or nancy@maconheadspace.com.
