Enjoy a variety of safe, free outdoor exercise classes for all ages and abilities – led by professionals!
Class descriptions and schedules below.

Classes will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
All Fitness in the Parks program participants must complete a waiver before participating in their first activity. Waivers can be turned in to the instructor of the first class you attend. Download Providence Park Activities Waiver.

Stay active, and have fun doing it this summer with Betty Hoop and the Providence Parks Department! Hula Hoops in the Park is a unique and exciting free exercise class aimed to bring awareness to circus arts and alternative styles of fitness, while also encouraging children to develop a physically active lifestyle through hobbies, or encourage adults to try a new form of workout. NATIONAL HULA HOOP CELEBRATION

This is a group class format focused on total body conditioning. An instructor will lead you through a different series of exercises using your own body weight, small equipment (provided by instructor) and park structures in a bootcamp style workout. No equipment necessary. Register here.

Xtreme Hip-Hop puts a modern twist on the popular step aerobics fitness routines first made popular in the 90s. This program is one of the most energetic step aerobics fitness experiences, featuring a breakdown of all beginner moves, followed by a step workout to today’s most popular hip-hop songs. Please note that only the first class of each month (September 18 and October 2) will be offered for free. Register here.

Tai Chi, originating as a Chinese martial art, is now recognized as a rejuvenating art practiced for its evidence-based health benefits to:
• Improve balance, coordination, flexibility, strength
• Increase circulation of joint fluid (potentially decreasing pain)
• Enhance internal energy and improve immunity
• Release tension and calm the mind
In this beginner-friendly class, we will learn and practice a short Tai Chi form to improve health and well-being.

Developed by Grandmaster Calvin Chin, this class includes a fundamental training program with exercises and mindful practice of integrated Tai Chi movements to release tension and rigidity in order to regain the ability to become agile, improve balance and coordination, and develop stability and strength. This is an active class, simple but effective in approach, and suitable for first time beginners, as well as experienced.
